System board switches

The following illustrations show the location of the switches on the server.

Locations of system board switches

Note
If there is a clear protective sticker on the top of the switch blocks, you must remove and discard it to access the switches.

Important
  1. Before you change any switch settings or move any jumpers, turn off the server; then, disconnect all power cords and external cables. Review the following information:

  2. Any system-board switch or jumper block that is not shown in the illustrations in this document are reserved.

1Off

ME security override

Changing this switch to the On position disables ME Security checks.

2Off

Real time clock (RTC) reset

Changing this switch to the On position resets the RTC. A momentary toggle is all that is required. To avoid excessive CMOS battery drain, do not leave this switch in the On position.

3Off

Password clear

Changing this switch to the On position overrides the power-on password.

4Off

ME recovery

Changing this switch to the On position boots ME to recovery

5Off

Reserved

This switch is reserved for development purpose only. Keep this switch in the Off position.

6Off

Reserved

This switch is reserved for development purpose only. Keep this switch in the Off position.

7Off

SW7 switch block

The following table describes the functions of the SW7 switch block on the system board.
Table 3. System board SW7 switch block description
Switch numberDefault positionDescriptionDefinition
1Off

BMC boot primary

Off: XCC boots from upper half of flash region.

On: XCC boots from lower half of flash region.

2Off

XCC force update

Changing this switch to the On position forces XCC to boot from kernel code only.

3Off

Power permission override

Changing this switch to the On position ignores Power Permission and allows the system to power-on.

4Off

Force XCC reset

Changing this switch to the On position forces XCC reset.

5Off

Serial select

Changing this switch to the On position accesses the BMC via the serial port.

SW9 switch block

The following table describes the functions of the SW9 switch block on the system board.

1Off

Force FPGA reset

Changing this switch to the On position forces FPGA to reset.

2Off

Force BMC CPU reset

Changing this switch to the On position forces the BMC and CPU to reset.

3Off

Reserved

This switch is reserved for development purpose only. Keep this switch in the Off position.

4Off
