Hub configuration and management
Lenovo XClarity One Hub is a lightweight, on-premises virtual appliances that act as the critical link between the centralized portal and physical infrastructure. Installed within data centers or edge locations, they serve as secure intermediaries, meaning they are the only components that communicate directly with the XClarity One portal while interacting locally with managed devices like servers and storage. This design reduces security exposure by avoiding direct internet access to infrastructure and enables centralized visibility across multiple sites.
Functionally, management hubs handle the actual execution of management tasks—such as monitoring, power operations, and configuration—on behalf of the portal. They can manage thousands of devices, operate across distributed environments, and continue managing devices even if temporarily disconnected from the portal. Hubs also provide local performance advantages (lower latency, faster response) and enforce secure communication using certificates, while allowing administrators to enable or restrict specific management functions at a granular level.
When using XClarity One in the cloud, an organization can collectively manage an unlimited number of devices that are under management by one or more hubs. Each hub supports a maximum of 5,000 devices.
When using XClarity One on premises, the portal can collectively manage a maximum of 4,000 total devices across all managed hubs.
