Pool capacity – early threshold exceeded

A pool's capacity has exceeded the early alert threshold. This problem is the result of either the pool's capacity being allocated beyond the early alert threshold or the pool's free capacity being temporarily reduced by drive failures.

Important
If you do not resolve this problem, this is the last alert you will receive before the pool capacity reaches its critical threshold.

Recovery Steps

  1. Are any Drive in Pool Failed problems being reported in the Problems area for drives that are members of the pool shown in the Details area?

    • If yes, go to step 2.

    • If no, go to step 3.

  2. It is recommended to replace the failed drives using the recovery steps in the Drive in Pool Failed procedure listed in the Problems area. If you want to fix the problem without replacing the failed drives, go to step 3.

  3. The problem can be resolved by adding unassigned drives to the pool, deleting one or more of the pool's volumes, and/or by adjusting the pool's early alert threshold setting.

    • If you want to add unassigned drives to the pool, go to step 4.

    • If you want to delete volumes on the pool, go to step 5.

    • If you want to increase the early alert threshold value, go to step 6.

  4. Add one or more unassigned drives to the pool, and then go to step 7.

    1. Go to Storage > Pools & Volume Groups.

    2. Highlight the pool identified in the Details area.

    3. Select Add Capacity and add one or more drives to the pool.

    4. Go to step 7.

  5. Delete one or more volumes from the pool, and then go to step 7.

    1. Go to Storage > Volumes.

    2. Highlight the volume you want to delete from this pool.

    3. Select Delete under Uncommon Tasks.

    4. Repeat for each volume you want to delete.

    5. Go to step 7.

  6. Increase the early alert threshold value.

    1. Go to Storage > Pools & Volume Groups.

    2. Highlight the pool identified in the Details area.

    3. Select View/Edit Settings.

    4. Select the Settings tab and increase the value associated with the Send me an critical alert when... checkbox.

  7. Select Recheck to ensure the problem has been resolved.
