Disassemble the node for recycle

Follow instructions in this section to disassemble the node before recycling the node tray.

About this task

Attention
  1. Power off the node (see Power off the node); then, disconnect all external cables from the node.
    Note
If necessary, press the release clip with a flat-head screwdriver to remove an external network cable from the rear of a 2U node.

  2. Remove the node from the chassis (see Remove a node from the chassis); then, carefully lay the node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the node with the front toward you.
  3. Remove the top cover (see Remove the top cover).
  4. Disconnect all the cables from the drive backplane; then, remove the drive cage assembly from the node and place it on a flat, static-protective surface (see Remove the drive cage assembly).
  5. If a flash power module is installed on the front air baffle, disconnect the flash power module cable and remove the flash power module (see Remove the flash power module).
  6. Remove the front air baffle (see Remove the air baffle).
  7. Remove the firmware and RoT security module (see Remove the firmware and RoT security module).
  8. If the rear air baffle is installed, remove it (see Remove the air baffle).
  9. Remove all the installed processor and heat sink modules (see Remove the processor and heat sink).
  10. Remove all the memory modules (see Remove a memory module).
  11. If necessary, remove the M.2 drives (see Remove an M.2 drive).
  12. Remove the microSD card (see Remove the MicroSD card).
  13. If the internal adapter bracket is installed, disconnect all the cables from the internal adapter; then, remove the internal adapter bracket from the node (see Remove the internal adapter bracket).
  14. If the GPU air duct is installed in the node, remove it (see Remove the GPU air duct).
  15. Disconnect all the fan cables from the system board; then, remove the fan cage from the node (see Remove the fan cage).
  16. If the PCIe riser assembly is installed, remove it from the node and disconnect the PCIe cables from the system board (see Remove the PCIe riser assembly and PCIe riser cable routing).
  17. Remove the power bus bar (see Remove the power bus bar).
  18. Disconnect the power distribution board cables from the system board; then, remove the power distribution board (see Remove the power distribution board).
  19. Remove the rear I/O module (see Remove the rear I/O module).
  20. Remove all the installed cable ducts.
  21. Disconnect all the cables from the system board.
