Forwarding data to external applications

You can forward event, inventory, and metric data from Lenovo SDI Management Platform to external applications so that you can monitor and analyze the data easily.

About this task​

Event data​

Lenovo SDI Management Platform can forward events that occur in your environment to external tools, based on criteria (filters) that you specify. Every generated event is monitored to see if it matches the criteria. If it matches, the event is forwarded to the specified location using the indicated protocol.

Lenovo SDI Management Platform supports forwarding event data to the following external tools:

  • Email (SMTP). Event data is forwarded to one or more email addresses using SMTP.

  • System log forwarder (syslog). Event data is forwarded over the network to a central log server where native tools can be used to monitor the system logs.

Creating data forwarding filters You can define common data forwarding filters that can be used by multiple forwarders to trigger the forwarding of data that matches specific criteria.

Forwarding events to an email service using SMTP You can configure Lenovo SDI Management Platform to forward specific events to one or more email addresses using SMTP.

Forwarding events to a syslog server You can configure Lenovo SDI Management Platform to forward specific events to a syslog server.
