Creating a cluster image

This topic describes how to create a cluster image (including the ESXi version, Lenovo drivers, and firmware) on Lenovo SDI Management Platform and apply it to all hosts in a cluster. For more information about image configurations, see ThinkAgile VX - Best Recipes.

Procedure

  1. From the Lenovo SDI Management Platform menu bar, click Upgrade to enter the upgrade page.

  2. In the Edit Image area, do one or more of the following:

    • Select the ESXi version from the ESXi Version drop-down list.

    • Vendor Add-ons are component packages recommended by your hardware vendors for your host. They usually contain all the drivers and solutions provided by the OEMs.

      • If you have never selected Vendor Add-ons, click Select, select Lenovo plug-ins and plug-in versions for ESXi, and click Save.

      • If you have already selected Vendor Add-ons, you can edit or delete selected add-ons.

    • In the Firmware and Driver Add-ons field, click Select, select firmware and driver packages from the drop-down list, and click Save.

      • Note: If the Hardware Support Manager area shows None, check whether Lenovo XClarity Integrator has been enabled as the hardware support manager for vSphere Lifecycle Manager
  3. After editing the image, do the following:

    • Click Save to save the image.

    • Click Verify to check compatibility among the ESXi, Lenovo driver plug-ins, and firmware in the image.

    • Click Cancel to discard the changes.

  4. Click Complete Image Configuration to complete the image creation process, or click Cancel to cancel using the image to manage the cluster.
