Remove the fan board

Use this information to remove the fan board.

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and disconnect all power cords for this task.

  • Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.

Before removing the fan board:
  1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.

  2. Remove system fans. See Remove a system fan.

  3. Disconnect the fan board power cable and sideband cable. See Power/Sideband cable routing.

  4. Disconnect any cables that might impede your access to the fan board. Before cable disconnection, record where the cables are connected to the system board. See Internal cable routing.
