Install GPU adapter link bridges

Follow the instructions in this section to install GPU adapter link bridges.

Attention

• Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

• Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.

• Follow the additional instructions in any documentation that comes with the GPU adapter.

Note

Depending on the type, the GPU adapter might look slightly different from the illustrations in this section.

Firmware and driver download: You might need to update the firmware or driver after replacing a component.

• Go to Drivers and Software download website for ThinkSystem SR650a V4 to see the latest firmware and driver updates for your server.

• Go to Update the firmware for more information on firmware updating tools.

Procedure

1. If applicable, remove the link connector covers from the GPU adapters.

2. Align the GPU adapter link bridge to the link connectors on the GPU adapters; then, install the GPU adapter link bridge to the GPU adapters until it clicks into place.

3. Repeat 2 to install the other GPU adapter link bridges.
   Note

   When linking a GPU pair, all link connectors on the GPUs must be linked.
