Install a RAID flash power module

Follow instructions in this section to install a RAID flash power module (supercap).

About this task

To avoid potential danger, read and follow the following safety statements.
  • S002
    disconnect all power
    CAUTION
    The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.
Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safety.

  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

Note
Your RAID flash power module might look slightly different from those shown in the illustrations.

  1. Install the RAID flash power module into the bracket.
    1. Align the RAID flash power module with the bracket.
    2. Rotate the other end of the module inward until it is secured in the bracket.

  2. Position the RAID flash power module and bracket assembly onto the chassis, where the tabs on the bracket pass through the corresponding holes on the chassis. Move the assembly as shown until it is secured on the chassis.

  3. Connect the RAID flash power module cable to the RAID adapter. See Intrusion switch and RAID flash power module cable routing for more information on the internal cable routing.
    Note
    Make sure that the RAID flash power module cable connector is fully seated in place as illustrated when being plugged into the connector on the following RAID adapters:
    • ThinkSystem RAID 940-8i 4GB Flash PCIe Gen4 12Gb Adapter (with flash power module)

    • ThinkSystem RAID 9350-8i 2GB Flash PCIe 12Gb Adapter (with flash power module)

    • ThinkSystem RAID 9350-16i 4GB Flash PCIe 12Gb Adapter (with flash power module)
