Portal updates

When using Lenovo XClarity One as a local virtual machine, it is important to keep the portal up to date with the latest release.

Updating the XClarity One software is manual process. The portal does not support automatic updates.

Note
  • You can update XClarity One to only the next ordinal release, for example from v25p.2 to v25p.3. You cannot skip releases when updating the portal.

  • During the update process, all users are signed out of the portal when the portal restarts. Wait until the restart completes. This might take a while. Then, clear the web browser cache and refresh the web browser before signing in again.

You can manually update the portal by completing the following steps.

  1. Import the update package to the portal. The update package is a .tar.gz or .tgz archive that contains the four required update files: update image (.tgz or .tar.gz), metadata (.xml), change log (.chg), and readme (.txt).

You can manually import updates by downloading the portal update package from the XClarity One downloads webpage to a workstation that has a network connection to the XClarity One host server, and then importing the package. Clicking Portal configuration and then Update from the context menu on the Settings view, and then click the Import icon (Import icon).

When the portal is connected to the Internet, XClarity One retrieves the list of XClarity One updates as they become available. You can download the update-package payloads from the Lenovo Support website directly to the portal. Click Portal configuration and then Update from the context menu on the Settings view, select an update package that is not yet downloaded, and then click the Download icon (Save icon).

Manually importing or directly downloading the update package might take a while. When complete, the update package is listed in the table on the Portal Updates panel.

  2. Install the update by selecting the update package and then clicking the Install icon (Deploy template icon) on the Portal Updates panel.

  3. After the update completes, clear the web browser cache, and refresh the web browser.
