Managing storage

This topic describes how to view information such as storage lists, storage details, storage performance, storage alerts, storage events, and storage disks in a cluster.

Before you begin

Click on Resources () > Storage to enter the storage management page.

About this task

Lenovo SDI Management Platform supports the following storage management functions:

  • View storage list. View all storage devices in the current cluster.
  • View storage details. View detailed information about a storage device.
  • View storage performance. View the performance information about a storage device, including IOPS, bandwidth, and latency.
  • View storage alerts . View alerts of a storage device.
  • View storage events . View events of a storage device.
  • View storage disks. View the disk list and disk details of a storage device.

Procedure

  • View storage list

    1. From the Lenovo SDI Management Platform menu bar, click Resources () > Storage. All storage devices in the current cluster will be listed. You can view the name, type, status, and capacity of the storage devices.
  • View storage details

    1. Click the name of a storage device from the storage list.

    2. The storage details page will be then displayed, where you can view detailed information about the current storage device on the left side, including its name, type, status, mode, and capacity.

  • View storage performance

    1. Click the name of a storage device from the storage list.

    2. The storage details page will be then displayed, where you can view switchable tabs on the right side. The performance tab is selected by default.

    3. The performance tab displays statistics of IOPS, bandwidth, and latency of the last hour, which will be refreshed every ten minutes.

      a. IOPS: indicates the number of reads and writes per second.

      b. Bandwidth: indicates the read and write speed per second, measured in MB/s.

      c. Latency: indicates the read and write latency per second, measured in milliseconds.

  • View storage alerts

    1. Click the name of a storage device from the storage list.

    2. The storage details page will be then displayed, where you can view switchable tabs on the right side. Select the alert tab.

    3. The alert tab displays information about all alerts, including:

      a. Description: indicates detailed description of the current alert entry.

      b. Resource: indicates details (cluster and storage information) of the resource where the alert was generated.

      c. Resource type: indicates the type of the resource where the alert was generated.

      d. Status: indicates the event status, which can be warning, critical, or information.

      e. Trigger time: indicates the time when the current alert was triggered.

  • View storage events

    1. Click the name of a storage device from the storage list.

    2. The storage details page will be then displayed, where you can view switchable tabs on the right side. Select the event tab.

    3. The event tab displays information about all events, including:

      a. Description: indicates detailed description of the current event entry.

      b. Resource: indicates details (cluster and storage information) of the resource where the event was generated.

      c. Resource type: indicates the type of the resource where the event was generated.

      d. Status: indicates the event status, which can be warning, critical, or information.

      e. Trigger time: indicates the time when the current event was triggered.

  • View storage disks

    1. Click the name of a storage device from the storage list.

    2. The storage details page will be then displayed, where you can view switchable tabs on the right side. Select the disk tab.

    3. The disk tab displays information about all disks, including:

      a. Disk name: indicates the name of the current disk. Click to enter its details page.

      b. Drive type: indicates the type of the current disk, such as HDD (hard disk drive) or SSD (solid-state drive).

      c. Physical capacity: indicates the physical capacity of the current disk. The unit will be automatically switched among MB, GB, TB, and PB according to the disk size.

      d. Disk operable status: indicates whether the current disk is operable.

      e. Location: indicates the location (slot serial number) of the current disk. Note: Locations of NVMe disks cannot be displayed currently.

      f. Host name: indicates the name of the host to which the current disk belongs, which is usually an IP address.

      g. Transmission: indicates the transmission type of the current disk, such as SAS, SCSI, etc.
