Managing virtual machines

View all virtual machines in a cluster, virtual machine details, and their health status. On the virtual machine management page and details page, you can create, modify, delete, clone, migrate, and power on/off virtual machines, manage snapshots, and access the remote console.

Before you begin

Click Resources ( ) > Virtual Machines to enter the virtual machine management page.

Procedure

View a list of virtual machines

The virtual machine list displays information about all virtual machines in a cluster, including the IP address, Power status, Overall health status, Memory, and CPU of each virtual machine.

Users can select a virtual machine in the list and perform the following operations:

  • Click Create Virtual Machine () to create a virtual machine.
  • Click Launch Console to launch a web terminal for a running virtual machine. See Launching the console.
  • Click Power Operations or Management Operations to perform multiple operations on the current virtual machine, such as editing, migrating, cloning, powering on/off, resetting, and suspending a virtual machine, and generating snapshots.

Viewing virtual machine details

To view details of a specific virtual machine, click its name to enter its details page. Information on the virtual machine details page is described as follows:

  • Summary: View virtual machine summary information, capacity and utilization, and perform virtual machine operations.
  • Performance: including CPU usage, memory usage, IOPS (number of disk reads and writes per second), bandwidth (network throughput), and average latency (read and write response time).
  • Snapshot:
    • Generate a snapshot:
      • Click to generate a snapshot.
      • Fill in the system description and name, and generate a system snapshot at the current time for future environment recovery.
    • Restore:
      • Select the snapshot information (by name or description) to restore.
      • Click Restore to overwrite the current system with the snapshot.
    • Delete:
      • Select unnecessary snapshots.
      • Click Delete to delete them.
  • Alerts: displays active alerts generated when the virtual machine is running.
