Known issues and workarounds

  • The VMware vCenter status shows "None" on the Resource Managers page after Lenovo SDI Management Platform is upgraded to version 2.1 or later.

    Detailed description: If VMware vCenter is configured with a host name and domain name, and its IP address is added to Lenovo SDI Management Platform v2.0, the VMware vCenter status will show "None" on the Resource Managers page after Lenovo SDI Management Platform is upgraded to v2.1 or a later version.

    Workaround: On the Resource Managers page, edit the information about VMware vCenter and change its IP address to its host name (with a domain name).

  • Failed to import VMware vCenter data when importing data of Lenovo SDI Management Platform v1.2 to v2.1 or later.

    Detailed description: If VMware vCenter is configured with a host name and domain name, and its IP address is added to Lenovo SDI Management Platform v1.2, the VMware vCenter data will fail to be imported when you import data of Lenovo SDI Management Platform v1.2 to Lenovo SDI Management Platform v2.1.

    Workaround: On the Resource Managers page, manually add the VMware vCenter by adding its host name (with a domain name).

  • If multiple virtual machines in VMware vCenter have the same name, the virtual machine image data displayed on the backup and replication page is inaccurate.

    Detailed description: If multiple virtual machines in VMware vCenter have the same name and these virtual machines were backed up or copied, the virtual machine image data displayed on the backup and replication page is inaccurate.

    Workaround: Use different names for the virtual machines.

  • After a virtual machine copied via Veeam is deleted from VMware vCenter, the source virtual machine is still displayed as "protected" on the backup and replication page.

    Detailed description: After a virtual machine is copied via Veeam and you manually delete the copy from VMware vCenter, the source virtual machine is still displayed as "Protected" on the backup and replication page.

    Workaround: Enter the Veeam Backup \& Replication console to delete the source virtual machine.

  • The Lenovo SDI Management Platform is disabled due to license errors. Then you restart it or upgrade it to a higher version. Later, you import a valid license, however, it still cannot be used.

    Detailed description: This occurs when Lenovo SDI Management Platform is disabled because the license is expired or the number of machines exceeds the license limit and you perform a restart or upgrade it to a higher version before importing a valid license. The page will continue to display a pop-up window, saying that the number of licenses is exceeded.

    Workaround: Restart the Lenovo SDI Management Platform.

  • After you add XClarity Administrator, if the IP address of the Lenovo SDI Management Platform is changed, hardware-related data cannot be updated normally.

    Detailed description: After you add XClarity Administrator, if the IP address of the Lenovo SDI Management Platform is changed, the hardware-related data of the platform will not be updated normally. The hardware-related data includes cluster power utilization, newly triggered server hardware events, alerts, etc.

    Workaround: reconnect to XClarity Administrator.
