Remove the intrusion switch with cable

Follow instructions in this section to remove the intrusion switch with cable.

    CAUTION
    The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. If applicable, unlock or remove any locking device that secures the top cover, such as a Kensington lock; then, remove the top cover (see Remove the top cover).
    2. Remove the air baffle (see Remove the air baffle).
  2. Remove the intrusion switch with cable from the node
    1. Remove the screw that secures the intrusion switch to the sidewall of the node.
    2. Tilt the intrusion switch and remove it from the node.
    3. Disconnect the intrusion switch cable from the connector on the system board.

  3. (Optional) If necessary, remove the intrusion switch with cable from the intrusion switch holder.
    1. Press the latches of the intrusion switch to release it from the holder.
    2. Separate the intrusion switch with cable from the holder.

After this task is completed

  • Install a replacement unit (see Install an intrusion switch with cable).
  • If you are instructed to return the component, follow all of the packaging instructions and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
