Remove the keylock switch with cable

Follow instructions in this section to remove the keylock switch with cable.

    CAUTION
    The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. If applicable, unlock or remove any locking device that secures the top cover, such as a Kensington lock; then, remove the top cover (see Remove the top cover).
    2. Disconnect the drive-backplane power cable from the I/O module board (see Cable routing for the hot-swap drives).
  2. Remove the keylock switch with cable from the node.
    1. Disconnect the keylock switch cable from the connector on the system board.
    2. Remove the screw that secures the keylock switch to the sidewall of the node.
    3. Slightly push the keylock switch rightward; then, remove it from the node.

  3. (Optional) If necessary, remove the keylock switch cable from the bracket.
    1. Press and hold on the latches on both sides of the keylock switch.
    2. Meanwhile, pull the switch with cable away from the bracket as illustrated.

After this task is completed

  • If necessary, install a replacement unit (see Install a keylock switch with cable).
  • If you are instructed to return the component, follow all of the packaging instructions and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
