Install the bezel detect switch with cable

Follow the instructions in this section to install the bezel detect switch with cable.

CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.
Attention

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

  1. Install the bezel detect switch.
    1. Align the opening of the bracket with the guide pin on the chassis; then, slide the bezel detect switch toward the guide pin.
    2. Pivot the switch as shown until it is seated in place.
    3. Fasten one screw to secure the switch.

  2. Connect the bezel detect switch cable to the system board. See System-board connectors for cable routing to locate Bezel detect connector.

After this task is completed

  • Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.

  • With the bezel detect switch installed, when the system is powered on, XCC would generate a detecting message referring security bezel as "sub-chassis".
