Install the M.2 backplane
Follow instructions in this section to install the M.2 backplane.

CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.
Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
Procedure
Install the M.2 backplane to the tray.
- Align the notch of the M.2 backplane with the guide pin on the tray; then, insert the backplane at an angle.
- Lower down the connector side of the M.2 backplane to the tray.

- Fasten the captive screw on the M.2 backplane.
- Fasten one screw to secure the M.2 backplane.
