Install the PCIe switch tray

Follow instructions in this section to install the PCIe switch tray. The procedure must be executed by a trained technician.

About this task

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.
  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

  1. Install the PCIe switch tray.
    1. Align the tray with the guide pins on the 8U GPU shuttle; then, place the tray into the 8U GPU shuttle until it is securely engaged.
    2. Rotate the handle of the tray all the way down.

  2. Tighten the two thumbscrews to secure the tray.

  3. Connect cables to the PCIe switch board. See below for more information.

After you finish

  1. Reinstall the front PCIe switch cable harness. See Install the front PCIe switch cable harness.
  2. Reinstall the integrated diagnostics panel. See Install the integrated diagnostics panel.
  3. Reinstall the front fan cage. See Install the front fan cage.
  4. Reinstall the I/O cover. See Install the I/O cover.
  5. Reinstall the cable cover. See Install the cable cover.
  6. Reinstall the 8U GPU shuttle. See Install the 8U GPU shuttle.
  7. Reinstall all the 2.5-inch hot-swap drives or drive bay fillers (if any) into the drive bays. See Install a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive
  8. Reinstall all the front fans. See Install a front hot-swap fan.
  9. Reinstall all the power supply units. See Install a hot-swap power supply unit.Reinstall all the rear fans. See Install a rear hot-swap fan.
  10. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
