Remove a 2.5-inch drive backplane

Follow instructions in this section to remove a 2.5-inch drive backplane.

Procedure

1. Make preparation for this task.
   1. Remove the front top cover. See Remove the front top cover.
   2. Remove all of the fans. See Remove a fan.
   3. Remove the fan cage. See Remove the fan cage.
   4. Remove all of the 2.5-inch hot-swap drives and the drive bay fillers (if any) from the drive bays. See Remove a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive. Place the drives on a static protective surface.
   5. Disconnect the power and signal cables from the 2.5-inch drive backplane.
2. Remove the 2.5-inch drive backplane.
   1. Lift and hold the two retention latches on the top of the backplane.
   2. Rotate the backplane from the top to disengage it from the retention latches; then, carefully lift the backplane out of the server.
