The optical drive is not recognized. | - Make sure that:
- The SATA connector to which the optical drive is attached (primary or secondary) is enabled in Setup Utility.
- All cables and jumpers are installed correctly.
- The correct device driver is installed for the optical drive.
- Run the optical drive diagnostic programs.
- Reseat the following components:
- Optical drive
- Optical drive cable
- Replace the components listed in step 3 one at a time, in the order shown, restarting the server each time.
- (Trained technician only) Replace the system board.

| A CD or DVD is not working properly. | - Clean the CD or DVD.
- Replace the CD or DVD with new CD or DVD media.
- Run the optical drive diagnostic programs.
- Check the connector and signal cable for bent pins or damage.
- Reseat the optical drive.
- Replace the optical drive.

| The optical drive tray is not working. | - Make sure that the server is turned on.
- Insert the end of a straightened paper clip into the manual tray-release hole.
- Reseat the optical drive.
- Replace the optical drive.
