Install the PCIe riser assembly

Use this information to install the PCIe riser assembly.

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Attention

• Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

• Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

• If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack.

Firmware and driver download: You might need to update the firmware or driver after replacing a component.

• Go to Drivers and Software download website for ThinkSystem SR250 V3 to see the latest firmware and driver updates for your server.

• Go to Update the firmware for more information on firmware updating tools.

Procedure

1. If necessary, align the screw holes of the PCIe riser card with the corresponding holes on the riser cage; then, insert the PCIe riser card and tighten it with two screws.

2. Align the two tabs on PCIe riser assembly with the slots on the rear chassis; then, insert the PCIe riser assembly into the connector on the system board.

3. Carefully press the riser assembly straight down into the slot until it is fully seated.
4. Connect all cables to the adapter.
