Remove a riser card

Use this information to remove a riser card.

To remove a riser card, complete the following steps:

The riser assembly you want to remove might be different from the following illustrations, but the removal method is the same.

  1. If there is any PCIe adapter installed on the riser card, record the cable connections first. Then, disconnect all cables from the PCIe adapter.
  2. For riser 1 assembly (LP/FHFL), if there is an intrusion switch installed on it, disconnect the cable of the intrusion switch from the system board.
  3. Grasp the riser assembly by its edges and carefully lift it out of the chassis.

  4. If necessary, remove the PCIe adapters that are installed on the riser card. See Remove a PCIe adapter.
  5. If necessary, remove the intrusion switch that is installed on the riser bracket. See Remove an intrusion switch.
  6. Remove the two screws that secure the riser card to the bracket. Then, remove the riser card.

If you are instructed to return the old riser card, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging materials that are provided.
