Remove the rear air baffle

Follow instructions in this section to remove the rear air baffle.

Attention

Procedure

  1. Make preparation for this task.
    1. Remove the front top cover. See Remove the front top cover.
    2. Remove the FHFL risers if necessary. See Remove a PCIe riser.
  2. If a flash power module is installed on the front air baffle, disconnect the flash power module cable from the extension cable.

  3. If the M.2 backplane is installed on the front air baffle, disconnect the M.2 backplane cables from the M.2 backplane.
    • SATA/NVMe M.2 backplane

      1. Loosen the screw that secures the M.2 backplane cables.
      2. Disconnect the cables from the M.2 backplane.

    • SATA/x4 NVMe M.2 backplane

      Disconnect the M.2 backplane cables from the M.2 backplane.

  4. Disconnect all PCIe riser cables from the system board assembly.
  5. Remove the rear air baffle.
    1. Slightly push the right and left blue tabs inward toward the center of the server.
    2. Lift the rear air baffle and remove it from the chassis.

      Attention
      For proper cooling and airflow, reinstall the front air baffle and the rear air baffle before you turn on the server. Operating the server with the air baffle removed might damage server components.
      Note
      The rear air baffle might look different from the illustration.
