Instance NIC speed

What is the speed of the NIC for an application instance in the ThinkAgile CP platform?

In Compatibility Mode (an application instance without paravirtualized VirtI/O drivers installed in the guest), application instances have an emulated Intel NIC with 1Gbps link speed:

  • On Windows, the NIC shows up as Intel Pro/1000 MT Network Connection.

  • On Linux, it appears as Intel Corporation 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller.

In Enhanced Mode (with paravitualized VirtI/O drivers installed), instances have 10Gbps NIC.

  • On Windows, the NIC shows up as RedHat Virtio Ethernet Adapter.

  • On Linux, it appears as Red Hat, Inc Network Device.
