Multiple Windows disks offline

When creating a new instance with multiple disks, the first disk is formatted with the operating system installed on it; but, the other disks are effectively empty and zeroed out without any formatting, causing Windows to see them as offline.

Solution

To use the disk(s), you must either use Disk Management or execute diskpart in a command shell.

From Disk Management or the Disk Partition application bring the disk(s) online, create partition(s), format the volumes, and assign drive letters.
