  • Multiple Windows disks offline
    When creating a new instance with multiple disks, the first disk is formatted with the operating system installed on it; but, the other disks are effectively empty and zeroed out without any formatting, causing Windows to see them as offline.
  • Windows Disks Offline after Adding vNIC
    This section covers the workaround procedures for when disks go offline after adding a vNIC.
  • Issues with bringing a cloned disk online
    When you clone a disk from a backup of a Windows 2016 server and attach it to that same server, you may encounter problems bringing the disk online through File and Storage Services in Server Manager.

  • Cannot boot in Compatibility Mode for Windows
    After installing 3.3+ guest agent tools on a Windows 10 or Windows 2016 instance, the instance cannot boot in Compatibility Mode.
  • Spectre and Meltdown fixes
    ThinkAgile CP has released a hotfix to protect the hardware against Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities. For full protection, software patches for these vulnerabilities should be installed within the instance OS.
  • Restart Guest Agent
    The ThinkAgile CP Cloud Controller Guest Agent runs as a service on Microsoft Windows and Linux application instances.
  • Cannot shut down or restart Linux instances
    A Linux instance consistently fails to reboot or shut down when "Restart" or "Shut down" is selected in the ThinkAgile CP Management Portal, but "Force restart" and "Force shut down" succeed.
  • Hot-Plug CPU and Memory – Linux
    Some Linux kernels do not support hot-plug of CPU and/or memory. This can affect Linux instances created from ISO or from a template created from an imported VM.
  • Hot-Plug CPU and RAM failure – Windows 2008
    After adding CPU and RAM to a Windows 2008 R2 instance, the instance does not recognize the added resources.
  • Hot-Plug CPU and RAM Windows 2016 server issues
    After adding CPU and RAM to a Windows 2016 Server instance, the instance does not recognize the added resources. Additionally, if the Windows 2016 server has 2GB or less RAM, hot-plugging CPU can cause the operating system to be sluggish and on rare occasions crash.
  • Hot-Plug memory failure on CentOS 7
    After creating a CentOS 7 instance from ISO the Profile is changed to add more RAM, but the instance does not recognize the additional RAM.
  • CentOS 7 - Hot-Adding CPU Might Cause Intermittent Reboot
    Adding CPU into a running CentOS 7 instance may cause the instance to intermittently crash and reboot. This most commonly happens with instances created from the Centos 7 with FIO (Flexible IO) benchmarkLenovo Cloud Marketplace template.
  • CentOS 7 instance incorrect time
    The time is incorrect on a CentOS 7 instance, which can cause the instance to lose its IP when attempting to renew its DHCP lease.
  • Actions unavailable - Windows setup
    Some actions (such as, restart, shutdown, etc.) may not be available on Windows instances before the Windows post-installation wizard has completed.
  • Disks missing in Windows installer
    Disks appear to be missing in the installation wizard after creating a multi-disk instance from a Windows ISO. For example, only seven of the disks are listed.
  • Windows 10 VNC performance
    There are delays in mouse movement, keyboard typing, and opening applications in Windows 10 instances.
  • Ubuntu server 16.04 boot issue
    After creating an instance from Ubuntu 16.04 Server installer and opening the console, the instance shows a black screen or a message about /dev/sda1:clean.
  • Disks reordered
    After creating a multi-disk instance from a Windows ISO and navigating through the installation wizard, the disks appear in a different order than configured.
  • Cannot enable nested virtualization
    Virtualization cannot be enabled within a ThinkAgile CP Cloud Controller instance's OS, even though Nested Virtualization is enabled in the instance's profile.
  • ESXi install - no disks found
    When creating an instance from an ESXi 6.5 ISO, the ESXi installation wizard does not list any hard disks.
  • Migrated VM with firewall profile disconnects
    If a virtual machine (VM) with a firewall profile is migrated, all existing connections will be disconnected.
  • Instance NIC speed
    What is the speed of the NIC for an application instance in the ThinkAgile CP platform?
  • Enable or disable memory oversubscription
    In ThinkAgile CP, you can enable memory oversubscription to ensure more efficient use of available memory and improved workload performance. This feature enables dynamic memory allocation across virtual machines (VMs) running on a compute node, which allows those VMs to release memory when no longer needed. At any given time, no VM has more memory allocated than it actually consumes.
  • Windows VMs Will Not Shut Down
    Microsoft Windows Virtual Machines (VMs) do not shut down when the shutdown command is issued from the ThinkAgile CP Cloud Controller Management Portal.
  • Issues when migrating Windows VMs
    You might run into issues when you attempt to migrate Windows 10 VMs, Windows Server 2016 VMs, or Windows Server 2019 VMs that were created from templates in the Lenovo Cloud Marketplace before ThinkAgile CP, Release 5.1.4 (Windows templates dated before September, 2020).
  • Networking is not enabled for Red Hat, version 8
    When manually installing Red Hat, version 8, the networking is not enabled by default.
