Manage storage blocks

Infrastructure admin users can perform actions on a storage block, such as powering the storage block on and off, and editing the storage block name.

Complete the following steps to manage storage controllers.

  1. Log in to the ThinkAgile CP Cloud Controller as an Infrastructure admin user.
  2. In the left navigation, expand Resources and click Hardware to display the Dashboard page. Then scroll down to view the storage block.
  3. Click the Actions menu (Screen capture of the Actions menu icon) next to the storage block.

You can perform the following actions for a storage block:

Power off

  1. Click Power off....

  2. Review the list of application instances that will be affected when the storage block is powered off. Select shut down or force shut down for each instance as appropriate.

  3. Click Continue.

Restart

  1. Click Restart....

  2. Review the list of application instances that will be affected when the storage block is restarted. Select shut down or force shut down for each instance as appropriate.

  3. Click Continue.

Power on

Click Power on....

The storage block will immediately power on.

Edit name

  1. Click Edit name....

  2. Enter a new name for the storage block.

    Note

    The new name must be unique across all storage blocks in your ThinkAgile CP environment.

  3. Click Update.

Reset manager password

The manager account password is stored and used locally to access the storage controllers via a VNC console or an SSH session.

  1. Click Reset manager password....

  2. Enter a new password.

  3. Click Reset Password.

Note

The updated password is pushed to the physical storage. Hardware passwords are not stored in ThinkAgile CP.

Remove from the storage pool

  1. Click Remove from the storage pool....

    Note

    A storage block can only be removed from a storage pool if all application instances using the storage pool are deleted.

  2. Click Remove from the storage pool.
