Install a PCIe adapter

Follow instructions in this section to install a PCIe adapter.

About this task

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.
  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

  1. If a adapter filler has been installed, remove the screw that secures it, and remove the filler.
  2. If you are installing a PCIe adapter with x8 PCIe interface, install a slim PCIe slot holder onto the PCIe connector.

  3. Install the PCIe adapter.
    1. Align the PCIe adapter with the slot on the PCIe riser card, and insert it in.
    2. Fasten the screw to secure the PCIe adapter to the PCIe riser.

      Note
      The PCIe riser might look different from the illustration.

After you finish

  1. Reinstall the PCIe riser. See Install a PCIe riser.
  2. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
