Remove the 7mm drive cage

Follow instructions in this section to remove the 7mm drive cage.

Procedure

1. Make preparation for this task.
   1. Remove the front top cover. See Remove the front top cover.
   2. Remove the rear top cover. See Remove the rear top cover.
   3. Remove all of the 7mm drives and the drive bay fillers (if any) from the drive bays. See Remove a 7mm drive. Place the drives on a static protective surface.
   4. Slightly lift the PCIe riser, and disconnect the power and signal cables from the 7mm drive backplanes.
   5. Remove the PCIe riser where the 7mm drive cage has been installed. See Remove a PCIe riser.
2. Remove the 7mm drive cage.
   1. Remove the two screws from the top of the PCIe riser.
   2. Remove the screw that secures the drive cage to the PCIe riser.
   3. Rotate the drive cage to remove it from the PCIe riser.

3. If necessary, remove the two 7mm drive backplanes from the drive cage.
   1. Remove the two screws from the upper backplane; then, tilt the upper backplane at an angle and remove it from the lower backplane.
   2. Remove the screw from the lower backplane; then, slide the lower backplane out of the drive cage.
