Disassemble the chassis for recycle

Follow the instructions in this section to disassemble the chassis before recycling.

About this task

Refer to local environmental, waste or disposal regulations to ensure compliance.

Procedure

  1. Gently pull and disengage every installed power supply unit. See Remove a hot-swap power supply unit.
  2. Remove the OCP module. See Remove the OCP module.
  3. Remove the front top cover. See Remove the front top cover.
  4. Remove the rear top cover. See Remove the rear top cover.
  5. Remove all fan modules. See Remove a fan module.
  6. Remove the fan cage. See Remove the fan cage.
  7. Remove the front air baffle. See Remove the front air baffle.
  8. Remove the crossbar. See Remove the crossbar.
  9. Remove all the PCIe risers. See Remove the PCIe riser.
  10. Remove the rear air baffle. See Remove the rear air baffle.
  11. Remove the power distribution board. See Remove the power distribution board.
  12. Remove the PHMs. See Remove a processor and heat sink.
  13. Remove the memory modules. See Remove a memory module.
  14. Remove the serial port module. See Remove the serial port module.
  15. Remove the management NIC adapter. See Remove the management NIC adapter.
  16. Remove the intrusion switch. See Remove the intrusion switch.
  17. Remove all the 2.5-inch hot-swap drives and drive fillers. See Remove a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive.
  18. Remove the drive backplane carrier. See Remove the drive backplane carrier assembly.
  19. Remove the drive backplane. See Remove a 2.5-inch drive backplane.
  20. Disconnect all cables connected to the system board assembly. See Internal cable routing.
  21. Remove the system board assembly. See Remove the system I/O board or processor board.

After you finish

After disassembling the chassis, recycle the unit in compliance with local regulations.
