Install the rear top cover

Follow the instructions in this section to install the rear top cover.

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.

  • Make sure that all cables, adapters, and other components are installed and seated correctly and that you have not left loose tools or parts inside the server.

  • Make sure that all internal cables are correctly routed. See Internal cable routing.

Procedure

Install the rear top cover.

  1. Align the rear top cover guide pins with the guide holes on the chassis; then place the rear top cover on top of the chassis and slide it towards the front of the chassis until it engages.
  2. Secure the two thumbscrews on the rear of the chassis. Use a screwdriver if needed.

After you finish

  1. Reinstall the front top cover. See Install the front top cover.

  2. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
