Disassemble the server for chassis recycle
Follow the instructions in this section to disassemble the server before recycling the chassis.
About this task
Attention
- Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely. 
- Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server. 
- Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface. 
- If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack. 
- Lay the server on its side for easier operation. 
- Remove the front door. See Remove the front door.
- Remove all the installed drives and fillers. See Remove a 2.5-/3.5-inch hot-swap drive or Remove a simple-swap drive.
- Remove the server cover. See Remove the server cover.
- Remove the front bezel. See Remove the front bezel.
- Remove the front I/O module. See Remove the front I/O module.
- Remove the optical drives and the tape drive. See Remove an optical drive or Remove a tape drive.
- Remove the front and rear system fans. See Remove the front system fan and Remove the rear system fan.
- Remove the 3.5-inch/2.5-inch drive cage. See Remove the 3.5-inch/2.5-inch drive cage.
- Remove the backplane or backplate. See Remove the 3.5-inch/2.5-inch hot-swap drive backplane or Remove the 3.5-inch simple-swap drive backplate.
- Remove all the installed power supplies. See Remove the hot-swap power supply unit or Remove the fixed power supply unit.
- Remove the power distribution board. See Remove the power distribution board.
- Remove all the M.2 drives from the M.2 boot adapter. See Remove an M.2 drive
- Remove the M.2 boot adapter. See Remove the M.2 boot adapter.
- Remove the RAID flash power module. See Remove a RAID flash power module.
- Remove all the installed PCIe adapters. See Remove the PCIe adapter.
- Remove the firmware and RoT security module. See Remove the firmware and RoT security module.
- Remove the intrusion switch. See Remove the intrusion switch.
- Remove the memory modules that are installed on the system board. See Remove a memory module.

- Remove the processor. See Remove the processor.

After disassembling the server, recycle the unit in compliance with local regulations.
