Unable to update remote mirror

The storage array's world-wide identifier has changed and the storage array was unable to notify a mirroed pair's remote storage array of the change.

Important
  • If the mirrored pair shown in the Details area is a synchronous mirrored pair, writing data to the primary volume of the mirrored pair will result in the mirrored pair becoming unsynchronized.

  • A storage array's world-wide identifier can change if the controller shelf is replaced or if both controllers are replaced while the power to the controller shelf is off.

Recovery Steps

  1. Are any other problems being reported in the Problems area?

    • If yes, fix the reported problems, and then go to step 2.

    • If no, go to step 2.

  2. Save the storage array profile to aid in re-creating the current mirroring configuration.

    1. Go to Storage > Support Center.

    2. Select the Storage Array Profile link in the Launch detailed storage array information section and then save the profile to a file.

  3. Select the Save icon in the Recovery Guru to save the remaining steps to a file. These steps will no longer be accessible after you complete step 5 or 8.

  4. Does the storage array contain any asynchronous mirrored pairs?

    • If yes, go to step 5.

    • If no, go to step 8.

  5. Remove all asynchronous mirrored pairs from the storage array.

    1. Go to Storage > Synchronous Mirroring.

    2. Highlight one of the affected the mirrored pairs.

    3. Select Remove under Uncommon Tasks.

    4. Repeat for each mirrored pair on the storage array.

  6. Re-create the removed mirrored pairs using the information saved in step 2 by selecting Mirror Volume.

  7. Does the storage array contain any synchronous mirrored pairs?

    • If yes, go to step 8.

    • If no, go to step 10.

  8. Remove all synchronous mirrored pairs from the storage array.

    1. Go to Storage > Synchronous Mirroring.

    2. Highlight one of the affected the mirrored pairs.

    3. Select Remove under Uncommon Tasks.

    4. Repeat for each pair you want to remove.

  9. Re-create the removed mirrored pairs using the information saved in step 2 by selecting Mirror Volume.

  10. Select Recheck to ensure the problem has been resolved.
