Configuring Lenovo SDI Management Platform for the first time

When you access Lenovo SDI Management Platform for the first time, there are several steps that you must complete to initially set it up.

Procedure

To set up Lenovo SDI Management Platform for the first time, complete the following steps:

  1. Access the Lenovo SDI Management Platform web interface.
  2. Change the initial password.
  3. Read and accept the license agreement.
  4. Create additional user accounts.
  5. Configure the date and time.
  6. Configure network access, including IP addresses for the data and management network.
  7. Configure additional security settings, including importing trusted certificates for internal and external services.
  8. Configure and enable automatic problem notifications, if applicable.
  9. Configure Lenovo SDI Management Platform to forward events to specific services and applications, if applicable.
  10. Connect your resource managers.

Accessing the Lenovo SDI Management Platform web interface for the first time You can launch the Lenovo SDI Management Platform web interface from any system that has network connectivity to the Lenovo SDI Management Platform virtual machine.

Creating a local user You can manually create user accounts in the local (embedded) authentication server. Local user accounts are used to log in to Lenovo SDI Management Platform and authorize access to resources.

Configuring the network When you initially set up Lenovo SDI Management Platform, you must configure a single network interface (using IPv4 and IPv6 settings). You can also configure Internet routing settings.

Configuring the date and time You must set up at least one (and up to four) Network Time Protocol (NTP) server to synchronize the timestamps for Lenovo SDI Management Platform with events that are received from resource managers.

Configure additional security settings You can configure additional security settings, including certificates and user account security settings.

Setting up event data forwarding You can forward event, inventory, and metric data from Lenovo SDI Management Platform to external applications so that you can monitor and analyze data easily.

Connecting resource managers Lenovo SDI Management Platform monitors and manages devices through resource managers.
