Setting up event-data forwarding

You can forward event, inventory, and metric data from Lenovo SDI Management Platform to external applications so that you can monitor and analyze the data easily.

About this task​

Lenovo SDI Management Platform can forward events that occur in your environment to external tools, based on criteria (filters) that you specify. Every generated event is monitored to see if it matches the criteria. If it matches, the event is forwarded to the specified location using the indicated protocol. Lenovo SDI Management Platform supports forwarding event data to the following external tools:

  • Email. Event data is forwarded to one or more email addresses using SMTP.

  • Syslog. Event data is forwarded over the network to a central log server where native tools can be used to monitor the syslog.

Lenovo SDI Management Platform uses global filters to define the scope of event data to be forwarded. You can create event filters to forward only events with specific properties, including event codes, event classes, event severities, and service types. You can also create device filters to forward only events that are generated by specific devices.
