Install an enclosure fan module

Follow instructions in this section to install a fan module.

disconnect all power
CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.
Attention

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

Procedure

  1. Locate the fan slot in the enclosure to install the fan module. See System fan numbering for more details.
  2. Align the fan module with the fan slot; then, lower the fan module into the fan slot.

  3. Connect the fan power cable to the fan control board. See ThinkEdge SE100 Enclosure Internal Cable Routing Guide to locate the connectors.

After you finish

  1. Install the safety cover. See Install the safety cover.
  2. Reconnect the fan control board power cable to the node. See ThinkEdge SE100 Enclosure Internal Cable Routing Guide.
  3. Install the air baffle. See Install the air baffle.
  4. Install the middle top cover. See Install the middle top cover.
  5. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
