Remove a riser card (8 PCIe slots)

Use this information to remove a riser card.

Before removing a riser card:
  1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.

  2. If there is any PCIe adapter installed on the riser card, record the cable connections first. Then, disconnect all cables from the PCIe adapter.

To remove a riser card, complete the following steps:

  1. Grasp the riser assembly by its edges and carefully lift it straight up and off the chassis.

  2. Remove the PCIe adapters that are installed on the riser card. See Remove a PCIe adapter.
  3. Remove the two screws that secure the failing riser card. Then, remove the failing riser card from the bracket.
    Note
    The illustration shows removing the riser card from riser 1 bracket. The procedure is the same for removing riser cards from other riser brackets.

If you are instructed to return the old riser card, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging materials that are provided.
