Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle

Follow the instructions in this section to remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle.

Attention

Procedure

  1. Remove the front top cover. See Remove the front top cover.
  2. Disconnect the cables from the M.2 boot adapter.

    1. Loosen the screw on the signal cable.
    2. Tilt the connector and remove it.
    3. Remove the power cable.
  3. Record the cable connections first; then, disconnect and lift the cables routed through the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle and set them aside.
  4. Grasp both blue handles on the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle and carefully lift it out of the chassis.
    Attention
    For proper cooling and airflow, reinstall the upper processor board (CPU BD) and lower processor board (MB) air baffles before you turn on the server. Operating the server with the air baffle removed might damage server components.

After you finish

  1. Install a replacement unit. See Install the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle.

  2. If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
