Remove the lower processor board (MB) air baffle

Follow the instructions in this section to remove the lower processor board (MB) air baffle.

About this task

Attention

Procedure

  1. Make preparation for the task.
    1. Remove the front top cover. See Remove the front top cover.
    2. Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle. See Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle.
    3. Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD). See Remove the upper processor board (CPU BD).
  2. Record the cable connections first; then, disconnect and lift the cables routed through the lower processor board (MB) air baffle and set them aside.
  3. Grasp both blue handles on the lower processor board (MB) air baffle and carefully lift it out of the chassis.
    Attention
    For proper cooling and airflow, reinstall the upper processor board (CPU BD) and lower processor board (MB) air baffles before you turn on the server. Operating the server with the air baffle removed might damage server components.

After you finish

  1. Install a replacement unit. See Install the lower processor board (MB) air baffle.

  2. If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
