Remove the front operator panel
The front operator panel is in the lower compute tray that is accessed from the front of the server. After removing the lower tray, disconnect the front operator panel cable and remove the operator panel.

CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.
CAUTION
Make sure that all server power cords are disconnected from their power sources before performing this procedure.
Before you remove the front operator panel:
Remove the front cover. See Remove the front cover.
Remove the compute tray. See Remove a compute tray.
If an upper system board or system board filler is installed in the tray, remove it. See Remove a system board.
Remove the lower fan cage. See Remove a fan cage (lower tray).
Complete the following steps to remove the front operator panel.

Note
The operator panel connector housing with the side retaining clips remains attached to the operator panel. The operator panel cable slides into this housing.
- Disconnect the operator panel cable from the operator panel.
- If you are replacing the operator panel cable, disconnect the operator panel cable from the lower system board and unroute the cable. See Cable routing for common components.
- Press on the two release tabs on the top of the front operator panel and, pressing from the rear of the panel, carefully slide the operator panel forward.
- Remove the front operator panel from the compute tray.
If you are instructed to return the front operator panel or cable, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
