Create and deploy applications

In the ThinkAgile CP Cloud Controller, infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can create an application instance.

Application instances can be created using the following methods:

• Download a template from the Lenovo Cloud Marketplace, customize the template as needed, and deploy a new instance.

• Import a VM from a .VMDK, .VHD, .VHDx, .IMG, .OVA, .QCOW2, .QED, or .RAW as a template, and then use the template to create a new instance.

• Install a new instance from an ISO image or custom installer.

  Note

  Live DVDs are not supported.

• Create a new instance from an existing local or quick DR backup.

  Infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can use a pre-defined template to quickly create and deploy an application instance. These instances function as thin-provisioned clones that share a common base image, reducing storage usage across a virtual datacenter.
• Import a VM to create a template
  Infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can import a VM in several formats: VMDK, .VHD, .VHDx, .IMG, .OVA, .QCOW2, .QED, .or RAW files for import. The VM files must be located on an NFS or CIFS share.
• Create an instance from an installer
  Infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can create an application instance from an ISO image.
• Create an instance from a backup
  ThinkAgile CP allows you to easily create an instance from an existing local backup, a quick DR backup, or an external backup. The newly created instance is in the same state as the original instance when the backup was taken.
