Clone and attach a vDisk

Infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can clone a vDisk from local or quick DR backup, and attach the cloned vDisk to an application instance in the same virtual datacenter and storage pool as the backup. A vDisk can be cloned and attached as many times as needed.

Each cloned disk is independent of other clones and of the original backup. When you make a change to a clone, other clones disks and the original backup remain unchanged.

These instructions do not apply to Logical Volume Management (LVM) drives, which are the default for some templates.
