Static DHCP bindings for a VNET

This section covers the steps required to view, add, modify, or remove static DHCP bindings for a specific VNET.

The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network protocol used to automatically manage the network configuration of devices within an IP network so they are able to communicate with other IP networks. A DHCP server dynamically assigns IP addresses and other network settings to each client device within its network.

Besides automatically assigning IP network settings, DHCP servers can be configured to allocate specific IP and MAC addresses. Such an IP and MAC address pair is considered a static DHCP binding.

To configure a static DHCP bindings for a VNET, follow these steps:

1. From the left-side navigation menu, expand Networks and then click on Networks.
2. This displays the list of VLANs and VNETs currently configured.
   
   
   
3. Click a VNET from the list. The current static DHCP bindings for that VNET are displayed under the Properties section.
   
   
   
4. To add, modify or remove a static DHCP binding, click on Edit next to the Properties heading. The Edit Network Properties dialog box appears.
   
   
   
5. To edit the currently configured static DHCP bindings, modify the following fields for an entry:

   • Hostname

   • MAC Address

   • IP Address

6. To add a new static DHCP binding, click on the Add Row button. A new entry appears for which you need to fill in the following fields:

   • Hostname

   • MAC Address

   • IP Address

7. To remove a static DHCP binding, click on the Action menu () next to it and then select Remove Row.
8. Click Save to submit your changes.
