Remove the middle 2.5-inch drive cage

Use this information to remove the middle 2.5-inch drive cage.

Power off the server for this task

ATTENTION: Static Sensitive Device Ground package before opening

Before removing the middle drive cage:

1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.

2. Remove the system fan cage for easier operation. See Remove the system fan cage.

3. Disconnect cables from the middle drive cage.

4. Remove all the installed drives and fillers (if any) from the drive bays. See Remove a hot-swap drive.

To remove the middle drive cage, complete the following steps:

1. Rotate the handle to open it.

2. Remove the drives from the drive cage.

3. Pull and twist plunger pins and carefully lift the middle rear cage upward to release it from the chassis.

4. Press the latch as shown and close the handle.
