Install an E3.S cable assembly

Follow instruction in this section to install an E3.S cable assembly.

About this task

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and peripheral devices, disconnect the power cords from the primary chassis, then disconnect the power cords from the secondary chassis. See Power off the server.

  • Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.

  • If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack. See Remove the server from rails.

Procedure

Install the E3.S cable assembly.

  1. Hook the E3.S cable assembly onto the drive cage.
  2. Tighten the thumbscrew. Use a screwdriver if needed.

After you finish

  1. Connect the power and signal cables to the riser card and upper processor board (CPU BD). See E3.S cable assembly cable routing for more information on the internal cable routing.

  2. Reinstall all the hot-swap drives and drive fillers. See Install a hot-swap drive.

  3. Reinstall the front top cover. See Install the front top cover.

  4. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
