Install the Ethernet port assembly

Follow the instructions in this section to install the Ethernet port assembly.

About this task

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and peripheral devices, disconnect the power cords from the primary chassis, then disconnect the power cords from the secondary chassis. See Power off the server.

  • Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.

Firmware and driver download: You might need to update the firmware or driver after replacing a component.

Procedure

  1. If necessary, align the Ethernet port card to the bracket and install two screws to secure it.

  2. Connect the cable to the Ethernet port assembly and interposer board. See Ethernet port assembly cable routing.
  3. Align and install the Ethernet port assembly into the chassis; then, install the screw to secure the Ethernet port assembly.

After you finish

  1. If you replaced the Ethernet port assembly cable, reinstall the upper processor board (CPU BD) and upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle. See Install the upper processor board (CPU BD) and Install the upper processor board (CPU BD) air baffle.

  2. Reinstall the rear top cover. See Install the rear top cover.

  3. Reinstall the front top cover. See Install the front top cover.

  4. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
