Installing the operator information panel assembly

Use this information to install the operator information panel assembly.

Read the safety information in Safety and Installation guidelines.

If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.

To install the operator information panel assembly, complete the following steps.
  1. Unlock and remove the left-side cover (see Removing the left-side cover).
  2. Open the bezel (see Removing the bezel).
  3. Remove the air baffle (see Removing the air baffle).
  4. Remove the fan cage assembly (see Removing the fan cage assembly).
  5. Touch the static-protective package that contains the operator information panel assembly to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove the assembly from the package.
  6. Angle the operator information panel assembly, so, its edge can fit into the guide slot.

  7. Rotate the operator information panel assembly to the server chassis until clicks into place.
  8. Connect the operator information panel assembly cable to the system board (see System-board internal connectors and Internal cable routing and connectors).
  9. Reinstall the DVD drive (see Installing a DVD drive and Installing an optional tape drive) which you removed before in drive bay 1.
  10. Connect the drive cables to the back of the drive bay 1.
  11. Reinstall the fan cage assembly (see Installing the fan cage assembly).
  12. Reinstall the air baffle (see Replacing the air baffle).
  13. Close the bezel (see Replacing the air baffle).
  14. Close and lock the left-side cover (see Installing the left-side cover).

If you have replaced a server component or installed an optional device in the server, you need to reconnect the power cords and all external cables, and turn on the server and peripheral devices.
