Remove the cable wall with heat sink detect switch

Follow the instructions in this section to remove the cable wall with heat sink detect switch.

CAUTION
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Procedure

  1. Make preparation for this task.
    1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
    2. Remove all the PCIe assemblies. If the configuration comes with PCIe riser 2 and internal drives, remove all the internal drives, and lift the internal drive backplane before removing PCIe riser 2. See Remove the PCIe riser assembly.
    3. Remove the processor air baffle. See Remove the processor air baffle.
    4. If applicable, remove the air flow sensor board. See Remove the air flow sensor board.
    5. Remove the intrusion switch. See Remove the intrusion switch with cable.
    6. If applicable, disconnect the cables from PCIe 8, 9, 10, 11 connector on the system board, and remove the cables that are routed through the cable wall. See System-board connectors for cable routing to locate the connectors.
  2. Disconnect the heat sink detect switch cable from the system board.
  3. Loosen the two screws that secure the cable wall; then, lift the cable wall to remove it.

After this task is completed

  • Install a replacement unit. See Install the cable wall with heat sink detect switch.
