Manage local backups for an application instance

In the ThinkAgile CP Cloud Controller, infrastructure admin users and VDC manager users can take a local backup of the current instance, revert to an earlier backup of an instance, or manage existing backups for the instance. Additionally, you can copy a local backup to an external repository if that repository has been registered with the ThinkAgile CP Cloud Controller.

You can choose to take backups manually, or you can choose to automate local backups.

  • Enable automatic local backups
    You can enable automatic local backups and configure a regular interval for when local backups will be taken for your application instances. A maximum of 1,024 local backups for an instance is supported, based on the backup interval and the backup retention settings.
  • Create a local backup manually
    When an application instance is first created, a manual backup of that instance is created. However, you can choose to create additional backups manually.
  • Restore an instance from a local backup
    When you restore an instance from a backup, you are reverting the instance to an earlier local backup version, either an automated local backup or a manual local backup.
  • Create an instance from a local backup
    ThinkAgile CP allows you to easily create an instance from an existing local backup (created either automatically or manually). The state of the new instance is the same as the state of the original instance when the backup was created.
  • Copy a backup to an external repository
    You can copy a backup to an external repository even if you do not have external backups enabled. However, the external repository must be registered with the ThinkAgile CP Cloud Controller.
  • Rename a backup
    You can rename a backup for an instance.
  • View vDisks for a backup
    Viewing vDisks for an instance backup is helpful if you want to clone and attach a vDisk.
  • Delete a local backup
    You can delete a local backup.
  • Delete all local backups
    You can choose to delete all local backups, whether the backups were created automatically or manually.
