Removing the simple-swap backplate
This procedure applies only to 4U server models with non-hot-swap power supplies.
To remove the simple-swap backplate on 4U server models with non-hot-swap power supplies, complete the following steps.
Note
You need a screwdriver in order to complete the steps.
- Read the safety information in Safety and Installation guidelines.
- Turn off the server and all attached devices; then, disconnect all power cords and external cables.
- Remove the bezel (see Removing the bezel).
- Carefully turn the server on its side so that it is lying flat, with the cover facing up.AttentionDo not allow the server to fall over.
- Remove the side cover (see Removing the side cover).
- Remove the air baffle (see Removing the air baffle).
- Remove the simple-swap hard disk drives that are installed in the hard disk drive cage (see Removing a simple-swap hard disk drive).
- To remove the simple-swap backplate, slide it outwards and then rotate it out of the hard disk drive cage.Figure 1. Simple-swap backplate removal for 4U server model with non-hot-swap power supplies
- Disconnect the power cable from the simple-swap backplate and then the signal cable from the system board.NoteThe signal cables on the simple-swap backplate can not be removed.
- If you are instructed to return the simple-swap backplate, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
